This Mahogany Entry consists of a 36″ X 80″ Mahogany Style A-B Door with matching 12″ Sidelites and a 14″ Transom that was custom designed and built to replace the old existing doors (see the before picture below) on this home in Fairhope, Alabama. The Nobles purchased this retirement home in 2013 and proceeded to do a major remodel to update it inside and out. These 2 pictures show what a major influence a new entrance door can have on the appearance of a home.
Terry Nobles and his wife Janie have traced their heritage back to Scotland and the “Clan McFarlane”. Their love of Scotland, the beauty of its countryside, and Celtic music influenced us to incorporate a Scottish Thistle in the glass custom designed for this entry.
Terry took up the Bagpipe as a hobby several years ago and was a member of the St. Andrews Pipe and Drums and served as Honorary Piper for the Montgomery Fire Department prior to his move to Fairhope. He is now a Piper in the McGuire’s Pipe Band in Pensacola, Florida and can often be heard playing with the band at McGuire’s Irish Pub (a major restaurant and tourist attraction) in Pensacola. He also plays in the many festivals that the band plays in around the country. Terry played in the Tartan Day parade in New York City in April 2002 where Sean Connery was the Grand Marshall. He also played in the Gathering of 10,000 Pipers in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2005. We were fortunate to share a trip to Scotland and Ireland with them in 2007.
